BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Missing the signs of genetic irrelevance

I’m blogging this article from the BBC not because I have a particular interest in the GM issue or in what Charles Windsor has to say, but because I think it provides a glimpse into a brighter journalistic future on the web.

There are two things about this article that push me towards that view: firstly, it is a response to a previous news item intended to provide context to that story and I think succeeds in that extremely well; secondly, it uses the BBC’s new ‘In-page links’ system, to provide related information in an intuitive and convenient user experience, and it works an absolute treat.

I just hope the care that went into this article is not just a result of it being part of the ‘in-page links’ trial, and that this level of quality becomes the new baseline standard.
